DigiRail IoT Gateway With WiFi

This economical module solves the problem of data collection in local or remote applications. DigiRail IoT helps to assimilate sensors and RS485 devices using existing network infrastructure to provide data acquisition and logging. Depending on the model selected this can be achieved using WiFi or LAN networks.

  • Hardwired remote I/O to MQTT or Modbus
  • Passing data to OEE, DCS or SCADA
  • Open MQTT broker compatibility
  • Gateway function (Modbus TCP to RTU)
  • Gateway function (Modbus RTU to MQTT)
  • RS485 Master (8 channels/registers)

Direct connection of sensors and analogue signals. The module contains 6 digital inputs which can be individually configured to monitor state (On/Off) or to act as counters. There are also two analogue inputs and two digital outputs.

Initial configuration in Novus NXperience is an extremely quick process. With a small amount of interface wiring the module can begin gathering data in minutes. This can be passed via MQTT to Cloud services. It is also possible to send data to PLC/SCADA systems using the Modbus TCP protocol.

Modbus TCP to RTU Pass Through Gateway Function

This model can be used as a transparent gateway with no mapping of registers required. It is suitable for reading/writing registers on RTU Slaves wired to the RS485 terminals. Simply communicate via Modbus TCP and the module will automatically translate commands.

The Gateway Mode is a simple method allowing IT equipment or PLCs with Ethernet ports to communicate with devices such as temperature controllers, instruments and meters. This removes the restriction of physical mismatch between Ethernet/LAN cabling and RS485. It also compensates for the differences in the protocol message structure.

Modbus RS485 Master Mode

When configured as an RS485 Master the IoT Gateway can receive up to 8 registers via the built in RS485 terminals. This helpful feature allows the collection of data from field devices such as metering equipment equipped with RS485 terminals.

The 8 registers can be received from a single device or multiple devices with different addresses. Unlike the basic gateway mode, the register values are held in the devices internal memory.
