The Budget PID Bundle Kit pairs our tried and tested N1030-PR controller with a matched 25A Solid State Relay — ideal if you already have a thermocouple or PT100 temperature sensor and just need the controller and SSR. Very simple to install and operate, and well suited to packaging equipment, thermoplastics, catering equipment, brewing, and similar single-loop processes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this bundle include a sensor?
No — this is the budget option for customers who already have a compatible thermocouple or PT100 sensor. See our Starter Bundles if you need a sensor included too.
What warranty applies to the bundle?
3 years on the controller and 1 year on the SSR, since they're covered under different Novus warranty terms.
What sensor types does the controller accept?
Thermocouples J, K, T and Pt100 — check your existing sensor matches one of these types.
Do I need a heatsink for the solid state relay?
In most installations, yes. A solid state relay gives off roughly 1.5W of heat per amp of load, so a 20A heater produces around 30W in the relay. Mount it on a heatsink rated for the relay and keep the panel below 40-50°C. For 25A relays the EMAS SSS2X heatsink is a good fit.
How do I tune the controller after installation?
Use the built-in autotune. A fast autotune at 50-60% of your normal working temperature sets sensible PID values, then a full autotune at working temperature can fine-tune them. Run initial tuning without interference i.e. changes to setpoint or environment. For ovens and kilns, ensure doors and access points are closed. The initial tuning should be as close as possible to normal operating conditions. See PID Tuning for step-by-step help.
Can you set up the controller before it is sent?
Yes. Add our Pre-Programming service to your order and tell us your sensor, setpoint and alarm requirements. We configure the controller before dispatch, so it is ready to wire in.
Where can I find wiring and setup instructions?
Our PID Bundle Guide: Wiring & Setup covers the power supply, sensor and SSR wiring, first-time setup and autotune. You can also download the PID Bundle Guide (PDF) to keep with the panel.
