This 80A single phase Solid State Relay is the highest-current model in Novus's single phase SSR range, controlled from an AC input signal (90-280VAC). It switches AC loads from 40-480VAC at up to 80A, suited to heavy resistive elements and large industrial heating loads.
Solid state relays are used for switching resistive and inductive loads, outperforming conventional mechanical relays with a life cycle measured in millions of operations, high switching speed with no mechanical or electrical noise, no dangerous sparks or wear, and low power needed for switching — a perfect choice when high control accuracy is fundamental.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a heatsink essential at 80A?
Yes — a heatsink is essential at this current rating; without one the SSR will overheat under continuous load.
Why would I need an AC-controlled SSR?
Useful when your controller, PLC, or relay output is AC rather than DC, so you can drive the SSR directly without an interposing relay or signal converter.
Is there a DC-controlled version at this current rating?
Our DC-controlled range currently tops out at 60A — for a DC-controlled option, that's the highest available; this 80A model is AC-input only.
Industry Applications
- Heavy Industrial Heating — highest current rating in the single phase range for large loads.
- Furnace & Kiln Control — sustained high-current switching for demanding thermal processes.
- PLC-Controlled Heating Circuits — drives directly from an AC relay or PLC output.
