The RC suppressor will prevent damage to relays caused by the collapse of coils when the circuit is interrupted during normal operation. Cycling of current in an inductive circuit normally produces a high voltage surge. Damage to contacts then occurs due to arcing. This simple and inexpensive component can avoid premature failure of the switching contacts.
Recommended for use with relay output temperature controllers when switching AC inductive loads such as contactor coils, valves or motors. Also suitable for use with PLC relay outputs.
Provided with pigtail/flying leads. For installation in parallel with the relay contact or coil.
The RC Suppressor also known as a Snubber circuit is a basic series network containing a capacitor and resistor.
