The Compact Reflector for EMAS SPQ Retro-Reflective Sensors

The EMAS SPQREF1 is a 40x60mm plastic reflector made by EMAS for its SPQ series retro-reflective photoelectric sensors. Mounted opposite the sensor, it returns the light beam so that the sensor switches whenever an object passes between them. Its compact size suits tight spaces on conveyors, machine frames and door posts.

MPN SPQREF1

Frequently Asked Questions

Which sensors does it work with?
It is the EMAS reflector for the SPQ series retro-reflective sensors, such as the SPQ50RP2CC2 (2m cable) and SPQ50RP2CSX (M12 connector). Diffuse-reflection sensors detect the object itself and do not need a reflector.

Should I choose the 40x60mm or the 100x100mm reflector?
The 40x60mm SPQREF1 suits short to medium distances and tight mounting spaces. The larger SPQREF2 100x100mm reflector returns more light, making alignment easier and helping towards the sensor's full range.

How should it be mounted?
Fix it squarely facing the sensor on a rigid surface so it cannot move out of the beam. Keep the face clean, as dust and oil reduce the reflected light and the working range.

Industry Applications

  • Conveyor lines - beam-break presence and counting with the reflector on the far side
  • Doors and gates - obstruction detection across an opening
  • Machine guarding and cranes - detecting objects in a travel path
