IP65 & IP67 Terminal Boxes and Junction Boxes

Weatherproof terminal boxes and junction boxes (JBs) from Wiska for joining, extending and terminating cables, and for housing small DIN rail and panel mount components close to the machine. The range covers plain screw-lid boxes, boxes supplied with DIN rail already fitted, clear-lid versions, IP67 junction boxes supplied complete with terminals, and consumer-unit style Indubox enclosures. All are lightweight plastic and easy to cut and drill on site.

Which terminal box do I need?

As a rule of thumb, start with what is going inside. For a simple cable joint, a junction box supplied with terminals is generally the quickest option. For terminal blocks, relays or signal converters, choose a box with DIN rail fitted. For a panel mount controller or thermostat, choose a box with enough depth behind the lid. For several DIN rail modules side by side, choose an Indubox sized by the number of ways.

Wiska WIB Terminal Boxes (IP65)

The WIB is a general purpose IP65 box in thermo-resistant ABS with a gasket-sealed screw cover. The WIB 8 (130 x 90 x 65mm) and WIB 9 (150 x 110 x 75mm) are commonly used for electrical termination, cable extension and adding sensors during machinery modifications. Narrow-depth temperature controllers can also be flush mounted in the lid.

Where more depth is needed, the DLWIB 9 has an extended lid giving up to 130mm clearance behind the fascia, enough for standard-depth PID controllers and digital thermostats. Note that the DLWIB 9 is rated IP56 rather than IP65.

Terminal Boxes With DIN Rail Fitted

The WIB 3/DR (165 x 145 x 84mm) and WIB 4/DR (230 x 180 x 88mm) are supplied with 35mm DIN rail pre-installed, which saves assembly time on site. The lid is held by four quarter-turn screws with a retaining tab so it cannot drop during installation. The WIB 3/DR takes components up to approximately 70mm deep from the rail.

The CLWIB3/DR and CLWIB4/DR are the same sizes with a clear lid, so terminals, indicator LEDs and relay status can be checked at a glance without opening the box.

Wiska Combi Junction Boxes With Terminals (IP67)

The Combi is an IP67 polycarbonate junction box supplied complete with terminals, ready to install. It suits general electrical wiring, outdoor lighting circuits, panel wiring junctions and machine build cable connections where a sealed, weatherproof joint is required. Three sizes are available: Combi 308/5 (85 x 85 x 51mm), Combi 607/5 (110 x 110 x 66mm) and Combi 1010/5 (140 x 140 x 82mm). Cable glands are not included.

Wiska Indubox Consumer Unit Style Enclosures (IP65)

The Indubox is an IP65 polycarbonate enclosure with a window, sized by the number of DIN rail module ways: 1303W (3 way), 1304R/W (4 way), 1306BR/W (6 way) and 1308AR/W (8 way, extra depth). Traditionally used for power distribution, it is equally useful for housing automation and instrumentation products such as digital thermostats, panel meters and other rail mounted modules. Blanks are included to close off unused ways, and knockouts are provided for cable entry. The 818A is a blank-fronted version without a window, for flush mounting instruments or internal DIN rail (rail sold separately).

What is the difference between IP65 and IP67?

Both ratings are dust tight. IP65 protects against water jets from any direction, which generally covers outdoor and washdown-adjacent installations. IP67 adds protection against temporary immersion in water, so it is commonly chosen for ground-level, exposed or flood-prone locations. The rating only holds if cable entries are sealed to the same standard, so always use suitably rated glands.
